Location: Tours are led in the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains, from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs.

Highlights:
Our tour will include the foothill shrublands (about 6,00ft), where low-growing mountain mahogany, antelope bitterbrush, currants, and sumac are home to MacGillivray’s Warbler, Broad-tailed Hummingbird, Lazuli Bunting, Woodhouse’s Scrub-Jay, Black-headed Grosbeak
Around 7,500 feet the montane forest begins, dominated by ancient ponderosa pines with stands of Douglas fir, lodgepole pine, Engelmann spruce, and quaking aspen
We’ll seek out Steller’s Jays, Northern Pygmy-Owl, Pygmy Nuthatches, Red-naped and Williamson’s Sapsuckers, American Three-toed Woodpecker, Hammond’s and Dusky Flycatchers, Western Tanager, and Plumbeous Vireo

Each trip is customized to your needs!
We will arrange to pick you up from your lodging according to your schedule, usually early to arrive at our first location near daybreak. We’ll spend the day visiting locations based on your bird list, our knowledge of the location, seasonal considerations, and local weather conditions. We often pack a picnic lunch or stop at a favorite local restaurant for lunch. We’ll finish up in the evening according to your schedule.

Depending on the birds and wildlife you want to see, we can bird close to the car or hike on well-maintained trails. Please be aware of the potential impacts of altitude and consult with your physician if you have health conditions that may be affected by altitude.
