Dates: The Pawnee National Grasslands are open to visitors throughout the year. Observing certain breeding species, like the Mountain Plover, longspurs, and Lark Bunting, is best from April to August.

Cost: The total is $525 for up to three birders.

Highlights:

  • The Colorado plains are home to short grass prairie with blue grama, buffalo grass, and less prevalent galleta grass interspersed with prickly pear cactus and soap weed yucca

  • Burrowing Owls make their homes in Prairie Dog towns

    We will arrange to pick you up from your lodging according to your schedule, often very early to arrive on the grasslands first thing in the morning. We’ll spend the day visiting locations based on your bird list, our knowledge of the location, seasonal considerations and local weather conditions. We often pack a picnic lunch or stop at a favorite local restaurant for lunch. We’ll finish up in the evening according to your schedule.
